One of the most engaging parts of theatre making for me is the constant quest to learn more. I look for the new opportunities in every project I do. As those who have worked with me in an educational setting will tell you, I have a passion for sharing the knowledge I have accumulated over my professional experience in Canada and the UK, as well as my own self directed studies in the subject.
My teaching experience includes short course at Queen's University in Lighting Programming, as a Teaching Assistant for drama course, and supervising students in practicum courses.
Following some retirements of long-time members of Queen's Drama staff and faculty, a sizeable gap in technical production knowledge emerged. This is a gap I have largely been happy to fill but it is a monstrous task. With the introduction of Vectorworks as the go to drafting tool in Queen's production courses, I have been the go to for faculty, staff and students alike for help on incorporating Vectorworks into their planning processes for shows they are working on. When I started getting the same questions over and over, I set to work on creating a collection of nearly step-by-step guides to help members of the DAN School community create usable lighting plots and quickly recreated drawings I had from past shows in Vectorworks to create a collection of exemplars of what drawings can look like. These resources are compiled in a public Google Drive folder which can be found below.
